Doodle 4 Google Contest

FAQ            

        In 2013 our school had students enter the contest and now the contest is open again!! During the month of November, your child will work on Doodle 4 Google lessons and then you can help them decide if they should enter the contest. For information to enter from home, please search Doodle 4 Google and see direction from there. More will come home as we get closer to the deadline for me to mail in all forms and pieces of work. Read below.

About The Contest            

What is the "Doodle 4 Google" contest?            

              Doodle 4 Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are              invited to create their own Google doodle for the chance to have it featured on the Google homepage.            

 

Why did you choose the theme "What makes me...me."            

              There are a million and one facts, interests, and quirks that make everyone unique.  For centuries, artists have created paintings, sculptures, self-portraits, and more to offer insights into their personalities and values. Now, we're asking kids to do the same by creating a doodle that shows the world what they're passionate about, what gets them excited, or what they dream about. In other words, we're asking that this year's doodles explain "What makes me...me."

Cobb EMC Lego Event
Lego Building Competition at East Side Elementary - Friday October 16th, 2015
Cobb EMC is once again sponsoring a Lego Building Competition to be held at East Side Elementary School. The event is open to students grades 2-8. There will be prizes awarded. Funds raised through this event will benefit the Cobb County School System - Elementary Science Olympiad program.

2nd through 8th grade students are invited to enter the Cobb EMC LEGO® Building Competition. A limited number of LEGO® builders (40 in each heat) will display speed and accuracy for a chance to win a $150 LEGO® Gift Card. Each entrant will receive a basic LEGO® set for the first level of competition. The first six builders in each heat that accurately complete the assigned set will advance to a finalist round of timed competition to win a $100 LEGO® Gift Card.

First Round Competition

Each Grade Level Heat = 40 students per grade level

1st, 2nd & 3rd place advance for each grade level

4th 5th & 6th place advance for each grade level

Finalist Competition

Grade Level Finalists = 6 students per grade level

(1st, 2nd & 3rd) Winner receives $150 LEGO® Gift Card

(4th, 5th & 6th) Winner receives $100 LEGO® Gift Card

All LEGO® sets used during the competition become the property of the entrant. Additional LEGO® sets will be awarded as door prizes at the end of the competition.

Adult Competition

LEGO® enthusiasts age 18 and older are invited to participate in an exclusive adult LEGO® building event! A limited number of participants, 40 in total, will display their speed and accuracy in assembling an advanced LEGO® kit. The first six builders to accurately progress the furthest through the assigned kit’s assembly instructions within a 15-minute time frame will win LEGO® Gift Cards and Prizes.
