Saturday, May 16th, we are planning to spend a few hours building our wildlife areas in the school yard.  It should be a lot of fun and of course the kids are included.  Next year we will have a lot to offer our students when it comes to science.

Week of May 11, 2009

Highlights

  • NO homework or spelling test this week!!! (Mrs. Anderson's lang. arts and math classes).
  • May 13:  Atlanta Ribs Night 5-8 p.m.
  • May 20:  4th Grade Award Assembly (Invitations for those receiving awards to go home May 12).
  • Make sure you have your students return ALL textbooks to school this week.

Week of May 4, 2009

Information:

  • Relay for Life sticker relay begins Monday, May 4.  Stickers are 25 cents or 4 for $1 and may be purchased before school only.  Let's see how many our class can purchase.  All proceeds go to our Relay for Life contributions.
  • May 5 at 9 am is our paraprofessional appreciation brunch.  Per a staff e-mail, We will be serving about 35 people to include the parapros, cafeteria staff, custodians and bus drivers.  Some all time favorites are:

    Quiches

    Egg bakes/casseroles

    Hash brown casseroles

    Grits

    Bacon

    Sausage/sausage balls

    Dips/chips

    Biscuits and gravy

    Pigs in a blanket

    Fresh fruit platters

    Sweet breads

    Bagels and cream cheese

    Muffins

    Cheese platters

    Cookies/baked items

    Juice/bottled water

  • These are just suggestions.  If you would like to contribute to the brunch please contact Stephanie McMurray at  stephanie@theMcMurrays.com

  • Field Day is Friday, May 8.

  • Book Fair is May 6-8 in the media center.

  • ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE FRIDAY, MAY 8!!

  • If you have not returned pictures or picture money, return all unpurchased pictures and/or money along with any unpurchased pictures by Friday, May 8.

Week of April 20, 2009

C.R.C.T.

We begin our tests this week.  Make sure your child has a good night's sleep and a protein-rich breakfast to prevent hunger during testing.  Your child may bring in a snack.  Snacks must be healthy (i.e. red grapes, cheese sticks, pretzels, apple slices).  Do not send potato chips or cookies as your child will not be allowed to eat those for snack.

  • PTA Newsletter and April calendar:

  • Your child is able to practice online for the CRCT if you have internet access.  Letters were sent home regarding the Online Assessment System (OAS).  The web address is:  https://www.georgiaoas.org   On the letter I provided your child's 10-digit test ID number to log on.  The password is "education".  You can choose the subject area and select the test.  Click on "Take the Test" button.  After the test is completed, click on "Grade My Test" button at the bottom of the page; a pop-up window will display.  Click "OK".  You can either save or discard the results.  Click on the "Return Home" when finished or click on another test option button if you wish to take another test.  Make sure you click the "Logout" button when you are finished on the website.

  • Spelling Lists for the remainder of the school year (please note the dates we will NOT have spelling tests) in Mrs. Anderson's language arts class:
