Thank you(s)...

There are a few things for which I feel the need to thank parents.  What you do does not go unnoticed, even if I don't find the time during the day to comment or respond. :) Things get busy pretty quickly in our classroom!

1.  Thank you to those parents whose children are sick. I know keeping them home can be a pain and eat up your own personal or sick days at your jobs.  I appreciate the fact that you are keeping your child at home when they are sick.  It shows consideration for classmates and teachers (which benefits the kids b/c I am really crabby when I am sick!!!).  There is some nasty stuff going around our school right now and I think our class has a very mild absentee count considering that fact.

2. Thank you for adjusting to the new homework and changes that are happening.  As for classwork, we are trying very hard to conserve our resources and generate some new teaching strategies.  We are using whiteboards quite a bit more and cooperative learning groups are becoming more frequent.

3.  Thank for those of you who have donated some items we were running low on (not related to budget cuts or anything of the sort).  I also appreciate all of the offers to donate paper and ink/toner.  We aren't in need of anything at this point, but when we are, I'll certainly let everyone know!  :)

New Homework!

In an effort to adjust to the recent budgetary concerns, I am making a change to the weekly homework.   Please purchase a composition notebook for the remainder of the year to serve as your child's "Homework Notebook."  There will no longer be homework packets sent home on Mondays.  At the beginning of each moth, I will post a monthly calendar with a short activity for each night.  You are more than welcome to modify each activity for your child.   Please print the date at the top of each page for the night that you complete the activity.  I will collect notebooks on Friday and it will be returned on the same Friday or following Monday.

In addition to the homework activities, please read at least 20 minutes each night with your child.

As for the spelling words... I will post the words at the beginning of the week (or over the weekend if I am really with it!!).

I'll give everyone a week to adjust and check any homework that comes in Friday the 6th.  I will expect to see homework from everyone starting Friday the 13th.  Thanks for understanding and rolling with the changes!

Below you will find homework for the month of March!
