Thomas Jefferson
Think of it as "Flat Thomas." (Google Flat Stanley if you aren't sure what I am talking about.)
Click on the link below to download the "Traveling T.J." letter, along with copies of "Traveling T.J." Students should color the pictures of Thomas Jefferson and send them, along with the letter to family and friends. Friends & family can take pictures of T.J. and then send them back to us. We'll use the pictures of "Traveling T.J." to study map skills and geography. Please send any "Traveling T.J." pics to katymarino@gmail.com.

Here are all 200 sight words that students should master by the end of the year. If your child is having trouble, I would divide them into 10 - 15 words at a time and master those before moving on. If your child is proficient at all 200 words at this time, you can start working on finding them in newspapers (if anyone gets those delivered anymore :), or writing them in creative ways. i.e. - toothpick in play-doh, fingers in shaving cream on the table or sand in a shoe box, use yarn or WikkiStikks to write them, etc.

Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to First Grade! I know it will be an exciting event filled year for all of us! I am looking forward to helping your child grow as a learner for the next nine months! You won't believe the educational leaps and bounds they will make!
First, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. This is my ninth year teaching at King Springs and my third year teaching First Grade. I spent five great years in Kindergarten here after a year of teaching Second Grade in Fulton County. I completed my undergraduate degree at Ohio Univeristy in Athens, OH and graduated from Kennesaw State Univeristy in May of 2007 with my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our four-legged love, Emma. I also love a good meal followed by a good book. Recipes and book suggestions are always welcome! I love to visit my parents and other sister, brother-in-law, and niece & nephew in South Florida.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Katy Ellenburg
