URGENT MESSAGE FROM MS. KEENEY:
December 11, 2008
Dear King Springs Families,
I have become increasingly concerned about the safety of our students during arrival and dismissal each day. School starts at 7:50 each morning. Teachers do not arrive until 7:15. We are finding more and more children dropped off in the cold and dark morning before teachers even arrive. This is extremely dangerous. Students may enter the building at 7:15 if they are eating breakfast or 7:20 if they are not and when the bell rings. Please do not drop your children off before those times. In addition as you are facing the building, the parking lot to the left of the building is reserved for buses only. As you know the entrance at the back of the parking lot coming off Gann Road is marked with a large DO NOT ENTER sign. Parents are continuing to come through that entrance and to park in bus lanes and pull up next to the building in order to avoid waiting in the car pool line. This morning a young student was let out of his parent’s car – he was dressed in a dark jacket with a hood, it was raining and dark. Another car came within inches of hitting this young man. What an avoidable tragedy this would have been! Please help us to keep all students at King Springs safe and secure by doing the following:
· Let your children ride the bus to school. It is the safest form of transportation.
· Do not drop your students off at school before 7:15 if they are eating breakfast and 7:20 if they are not.
· Do not pull up in the bus lane in the afternoons or the mornings for the safety of all students.
· Please go though the carpool line like the vast majority of our parents do. We will work hard to speed the line up.
Thank you for your cooperation in this important safety concern.
Sincerely,
Linda Keeney
